Practical learning that integrates information science and data science
Data science allows us to interpret the world through data and generate new ideas. Information science enables us to turn these ideas into systems and services. By integrating these two fields of study, we aim to develop talents who can truly contribute to society in the future.
The Data Science (DS) course teaches theories and methodologies for extracting new insights from vast amounts of data using computers, and applying these insights to benefit society. The Information Science (IS) course seeks to decipher the mechanisms of intellectual information processing, once thought to be unique to humans, and to pursue their artificial implementation. As the demand for AI, which leverages data science knowledge such as mathematical statistics, continues to grow, knowledge in application and system development, as well as in the IoT field, becomes increasingly necessary. The Faculty of Information and Data Science has designed a curriculum that allows students to learn both DS and IS knowledge and skills, aiming to cultivate professionals with practical abilities to fully utilize data science in the real world.
