ABOUT

Ideal Students, Cultivating Professionals

In recent years, data-driven decision making and the integration of AI into products and services have been drawing increasing attention across all industries and sectors.

To nurture professionals who can bring genuine and tangible value to society, we believe that it is essential to combine Information Science (IS)—which shapes ideas into reality through the use of ICT technologies—with Data Science (DS)—which generates new ideas from data. Based on this vision, the School of Information and Data Sciences was established in 2020.

Few universities in Japan embody such a practical and integrated concept. Beyond foundational and specialized coursework, we actively incorporate hands-on educational and research programs in collaboration with private companies and local governments. Many of our faculty members come from diverse backgrounds, including industry and research institutions, and are dedicated to providing strong academic and personal support to help students make the most of their university life.

Ideal Students

We welcome students from many different backgrounds who are interested in information technology and data science. Our programs are open not only to students with a science background but also to those from the humanities, including many female students. We provide an inclusive environment where people with diverse experiences and viewpoints can learn and grow together. This makes our school an excellent place for motivated students who wish to develop their skills and use information and data sciences to make a positive impact on society.

Inquisitive mind

We welcome students who have a strong interest in information and data sciences, who enjoy asking “why” and “how,” and who like discovering new things. Those who are eager to grow, learn new technologies, and challenge themselves will find great opportunities here.

Problem-solving skills

We are looking for students who can identify problems in society and think independently about how to solve them. Students who value teamwork, understand diversity, and enjoy learning with people from different fields or cultures will thrive in our programs. By bringing together students with these qualities, we aim to develop the next generation of leaders who can work with data in creative ways and contribute to the future of society.

Cultivating Professionals

We aim to develop people who not only learn technical skills but also know how to use those skills to solve real-world problems. As data-driven decision making becomes more important in everyday life, business, and communities, we help students build the abilities they need to succeed in many different fields.

Passion for Solving Social Issues:
People who want to use data analysis and information processing to make society better.
Data-Driven Decision Making: People who can make logical decisions based on data and adapt flexibly to new situations.
Adaptability to Technical Innovation and Continuous Learning:
People who keep up with new technologies and are always ready to learn more.
Global perspective and intercultural understanding: People who can work with others from different backgrounds and create new value together.

Through their studies, students at the School of Information and Data Sciences will not only gain knowledge and skills but also learn to work in teams, lead projects, and use their strengths to make a difference. We hope our graduates will become practical problem-solvers who can contribute to society and open new paths for the future.
